The Senior Anglers assist our club each year at our Annual Fishing Derby Zoofari
Zoofari is a 501c3 non-profit wildlife education facility located in North San Diego County. Their mission is to promote wildlife conservation through local and global education. They provide environmental education, featuring live animals, to Title I schools and disadvantaged youth through contributions from the local community and individual donors. 100% of a donation from Hidden Valley Kiwanis was used to provide a school wide assembly for Central Elementary School in Escondido!
In addition to providing educational programs, they also provide a permanent, loving home for over 120 non-releasable exotic animals. These animals come to them from other educational facilities, or as conficsated or owner-relinquished pets. None have been taken from the wild. They also give back by directly supporting biologists in the field, in their grassroots efforts to conserve wildlife.
Guided tours of our 5 acre facility are also provided! This is a rare and unique opportunity to get up close and personal with a diverse group of species, and get a real "behind-the-scenes" look at the life of a zookeeper. A great experience for kids and adults alike. Tours are available 7 days a week, but must be scheduled in advance.
